Before we can understand trauma, dissociation, protective responses, or complex internal
systems, we first need language for something even more foundational:
What does it mean to be human and what is the difference between who I am and what I
learned to do in order to survive?
Course 1: The Treasure of ME Being Human is the foundation of Fern & Audrey’s educational
pathway.
In this self-paced online course, participants learn how emotions, thoughts, body responses,
beliefs, needs, choices, and relationships work together. This shared language helps
participants recognize patterns, understand how experiences can influence present-day
responses, and begin responding with greater awareness rather than automatically from
protection.
Registration for our next Course 1: The Treasure of ME Being Human opens November 3, 2026.
The course will begin January 11, 2027.

Trauma and difficult life experiences can shape the way we respond to ourselves, other people,
and the world around us. Protective responses can become so familiar that we may begin to
confuse what we learned to do to survive with who we are.
Throughout our courses, ME represents the whole person not simply a trauma response, defense mechanism, behavior, emotion, belief, role, or coping pattern.
Trauma is something that happened to ME.
Protective responses are things ME learned to do.
Neither one is the whole definition of ME.
We are also not suggesting that there is a completely formed, untouched version of ourselves hidden inside waiting to be uncovered. Human identity develops through our bodies, relationships, experiences, choices, values, and connection with God.
That is why our work with ME involves both recognizing and becoming: recognizing what has shaped and organized our responses while developing greater freedom to become increasingly aligned with the person we were created to be.
Course 1 begins that process by helping participants better understand what is happening within
them without reducing the person to what has happened to them.
The question underneath much of the course is:
What is influencing ME right now, and how can I respond with greater awareness, intention, and connection?

They are not designed for personal therapeutic processing.
No. Course 1 is required because it establishes the shared language and foundational understanding used throughout Fern & Audrey’s educational pathway.
Later courses explore trauma and its effects in greater depth.
Course 1 first establishes a framework for understanding the human person so that participants have language for distinguishing ME from the protective patterns and responses that may have developed through difficult experiences.
Registration for our next Course 1: The Treasure of ME Being Human opens November 3, 2026..
